These days, Lil’ Kim is singing the praises of health and prescription drug coverage rather than “Drugs.”
The rapper and mom-to-be will make three stops in New York City on Friday as part of the #GetCovered Tour, which aims to bolster Obamacare enrollment before the March 31 deadline, The Washington Post reports.
Lil’ Kim will travel Brooklyn, Harlem and the Bronx on the daylong tour, participating in a press conference at Harlem’s famed Sylvia’s Restaurant, a soul-food eatery staple frequented by Bill Clinton.
Lil’ Kim’s participation in Affordable Care Act publicity reflects President Barack Obama’s ongoing efforts to attract minorities and young people to the program. LeBron James, for example, filmed a 30-second commercial aired during NBA games this March. And Obama appeared with Zach Galifianakis on “Between Two Ferns” earlier this month to tout the ACA.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday that it would give insurance-seekers more time to finish their applications, so long as they begin by the deadline. The decision stemmed from a sudden “surge in demand,” according to reports.
That might be all the more reason to hang with Lil’ Kim tomorrow: at Queen Bee’s final stop, Katra Lounge on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, fans can sign up for insurance on-site.
