Starting Five: NY Rangers March On to the Stanley Cup Finals

A Madison Square Garden-based franchise will play for a championship for the first time in 20 years, as the New York Rangers advance to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1994. Will Billy Joel have to cancel any dates?

San Antonio regains the Alamomentum in the Western Conference finals with a 117-89 rout of OKC. All five games in the series have been won a) by the home team and b) by at least 11 points.

3. Power Trip

Edwin Encarnacion of the Blue Jays hits two home runs—his fifth multi-homer game of May—to give him 16 for the month, tying Mickey Mantle's American League record. Only two other men hit that many homers in one month: admitted steroid user Mark McGwire (16) and yet-to-admit-it steroid user Barry Bonds (17).

...of two members, Sriram Hathwar, 14, of Painted Post, N.Y., and Ansun Sujoe, 13, of Fort Worth, Texas, who finished as co-champions of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. It was the Bee's first draw since 1962. "The competition was against the dictionary, not against each other," said Hathwar.

Clippers owner Donald Sterling, 80, is declared "mentally incapacitated" by the Sterling Family Trust, which leaves his wife, Shelly, free to sell the team. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has signed an agreement to purchase the Clips for $2 billion.
