1. Boston Marathon

While Meb Keflezighi (2:08:37) became the first American male to win the race since 1983, former Heisman Trophy-winning Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie crossed the finish line in 5:23:54. Was he stopping to sign autographs?

2. "I Went to a Nuremberg Rally...

...and an NBA playoff game broke out." The latest in NBA chic is for teams to distribute T-shirts to fans so that everyone --at least everyone in the lower bowl--is clad uniformly. At what point does fan unity stray into creepy conformity?

3. I Like Ike

Just days after being traded from the Mets to the Pirates, first baseman Ike Davis hits his second grand slam of April. Davis is on pace to clout 21 grand slams in 2014--for 21 different ball clubs.

4. From Good Knight to Good Night

Premier League leviathan Manchester United, the world's most valuable sports franchise, sacks first-year manager David Moyes in the midst of its worst season in a quarter century. Moyes had succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson, who'd been in charge at Old Trafford since 1986 and—as the name informs—was knighted for his service.

5. Hawaiian Airlines Stowaway

Some believe the 15 or 16 year-old (accounts differ) is brilliant because he survived a flight while riding in a wheel well of a Boeing 767. I believe he is brilliant because he stowed away on a flight bound for Maui.
